The sun was just beginning to set, and the sky was painted and vivd reds, purples, and pinks. And, most importantly, gold. It was ironic that it was now the the little fire lizard queen, Saffron, chose to raise her head, hide darkening and eyes swirling red. Sasha and Tasyth watched her, Sasha not quite sure waht to think. they'd just been sitting out and enjoying the cool breeze! But Saffron didn't care. Saffron was Rising. The little gold shrieked her challenge to the flitters of the weyr, tiny lungs emitting a powerful noise. Stilling challenging the males, she leapt into the air, ignoring Sasha's restraints to hold her back.
---
Sasha had a powerful bond with Saffron. She knew this flight would affect her more than the normal flit flight would affect other people, and this worried her. She was only fifteen! It wouldn't go anywhere as dramatic as a dragon flight, but still...

Soaring after the Rising queen were a few wild fire lizards: a lava, a stonework, and a phantom. They crooned their affections, pumping their wings hard to gain advantage over each other. The gold had risen, and they gave chase!

She barely gave them a glance, inwardly angered. How dare only three chase! Discontentedly she hissed at them, telling them they were not worthy. No fire lizard was, be he White or Phantom! The queen gave an indignant roar, wings beating faster. There were no thermals for her to glide on -the cool night air had already swept them away- so she wouldn't be able to glide, and would tire faster...it was her first flight anyway.

They faltereds at her hiss, though the lava pushed himself harder, crooning continuously. The stonework flew hard right behind him, and the phantom went more slowly, lagging behind, awaiting the perfect chance.

The Stonework especially did not please her. Oh, he looked so drab! Her muzzle wrinkled in distaste as her eyes became even more crimson. The Lava though was bright and beautiful, close to her own coloring. The Phantom, in a strange way, intrigued her, why did he hang back? She kept flying in a straight line, glancing back every now and then. Were they going to amaze her with feats?
Sasha was locked into the emotions of her flits; Saffron's rage, disapproval, and passion coursed through her, but was distinguishable from her own emotions. All good? questioned the scarred Tasyth.

Taking a risk, the lava flipped himself in a tight circle, dropping a few feet with this manover. He spread his wings again, rising smoothly back to his previous height. Once he was steady, he flipped onto his back, then back again. The stonework only went as far as to croon more loudly, and flip around through the air. Again, the phantom refrained, his lower voice gentle, not as if he was straining to be heard, but more like he was keeping Saffron alert to his presence.

ooc// Replying again...
bic// Her admiration continued to increase in the Lava as he did a daring flip in air. She held back a croon for him, not wanting him to get ideas, but tossed him a pleased look. She still didn't like the Stonework- his coloring was too drab, too boring! She wanted something, someone lively. The Phantom, by Saffron's standards, would qualify id he would /do/ something. it almost annoyed her how he did nothing and just hummed lightly.

The lava, please with the look, attempted it again, fouling his wings dangerously this time. He dropped in a steep dive as he untangled himself, eyes flashing angrily as he saw the lost distance. He pumped his wings hard to get to the proper height, and forced himself onward to gain on the Phantom, trailing far behind. Encouraged by the lava's foul, the stonework, neared Saffron, swooping left and right, flipping himself around and around. He didn't stop, though he got dizzy. Foolhardy, as it was his very first chase.
The phantom increased the volume of his croon ever so slightly, sending his wings out to their full extent to gain height as he flew. He increased his height, the lowest of the clouds looming closer.
ooc// How high are they goin to fly?

ooc// No clue...i'll end it soon, since it doesn't seem to be oging anywhere...
Foolish Lava! She turned from him, not caring anymore. Once had been enough to amaze her, and now he had tried to show off too much, and had put a large amount of distance between them. The Stonework she still showed contempt for, but it was mild. The Phatom she was beginning to trust, and extremely like...

ooc// Alright.
bic// The lava crooned one last time before dropping away, his energy spent. The stonework continued his call, straining his wings. While, high above, the Phantom gained on Saffron, hidden amongst the cloud layers, his deep vocals reverberating through the sky.

Where was the Phantom? He ad disappeared from sight. The Gold was hurt; the Lava dropped away and she was left with the Stonework and an unseen Phantom. Desperately, she croonex to the Phantom, before hissing to the Stonework, making her choice.
