Xanthe blinked, slightly taken aback. "Um, you can't?" she asked, false persona still active. "Could you... um... direct me to someone who can?"

A'ron twirled his finger in the air and stopped it, his finger poiting to the left. "Apparently, there is some one in that direction.. But they might not be near.." he said quietly, hoping she didn't hear his last sentence.

Xanthe had. "Someone?" she asked uncertainly. "Who's someone? And what do you mean, 'might not be near'?"

A'ron shrugged. "I guessed."

Xanthe frowned. "What are you talking about?!" she demanded, beginning to get annoyed.

A'ron tapped his head. "Think," he said mysteriously, lowering his hand.
Oeth stared at the candidate.

"I understand that you guessed that someone was over there, somewhere in that direction, but I'd like to know-" Xanthe frowned, turned, and walked away. She'd find someone herself.

E'ro turned his head slightly, listening to the dramatic candidate, and the non helpful rider. He's A'ron, isn't he? He asked the Dusk, who by now had joined Quin in the water.
Yes. He's A'ron, and that's Oeth. Rynkth answered distractedly, craning his neck to see Loner attempting to crawl up his back from his tail.
E'ro turned his head completely as the girl strode away from A'ron, looking completely annoyed. Now what? He asked. Rynkth didn't have an answer.

A'ron gave a wave as she walked away.
Oeth stared at him. Why'd you wave?
You told me to.
The Phantom gave a grunt. That wasn't what he had meant.

Ugh, Xanthe thought disgustedly, I hope not everyone here's like that. It would be a disaster. Mar trotted after her, whining hopefully. "No, Mar, I do not know where we could get food. I don't even know where to go now."

Loner perked his ears, slipping from Rynkth's smooth hide. He paddled to shore, listening eagerly. E'ro looked towards him, and quickly got up. Great. He thought. He went to take a step to retrain the canine, but he was already gone, padding quickly for Mar and Xanthe. Quin cheeped merrily from the Dusks head, watching the canine.

Mar turned around, barking excitedly at the other canine which was approaching. Xanthe turned, still relaxed since she could tell by the tone of the bark that it was not upset but clutching her staff anyway, and smiled at Loner as he approached. "Well well," she said, raising an eyebrow at Mar. "Already making a friend, are we?"

Loner barked happily, slowing to touch noses with Mar, sniffing at her scent eagerly again. There weren't too many canines in the Weyr. E'ro, sighing, walked after the canine, head titled so his bangs would obsuer his face. Rynkth remained in the lake, watching them closely. Quin, however, followed after the Rider, alighting on his left shoulder.

Mar yipped happily, wagging her tail, and sniffed Loner in return. Xanthe smiled indulgently at her canine, then looked up at his apparent owner. "Hello," she said to him.

E'ro nodded his head to acknowledge her greeting, but said nothing in return. He gripped Loner by the ruff, his pale, boney hand coming out through his sleave. He pulled firmly but gently, and Loner took a few steps back, whinning with a wagging tail.
"You're a Candidate." It was more of a statement, rather than a question. His husky voice was soft and low. He raised his head slightly, a bright green eye peering out at her. The other was covered by his hair.
