Thistlen had heard the call, but decided to ignore it completely. However, Kai and Jobber had wanted to go, so she'd gone. She sauntered in, hands in pockets as usual, and looked around. Apparently, three of the Noka-things had already Impressed. Ah, well. She glanced at the trapped hatchling, then shrugged. If it wasn't strong enough to get out on its own, maybe there was something wrong with it. She was a street snitch. It was survival of the fittest.
Hearing the call, Xanthe became incredibly excited. There were no records at the Hall about the Nokas, and she would be the first Harper to get a first-hand account of one of their Hatchings! (Not to mention the fact that she actually had a chance to Impress to one, if she was lucky.) She ran around in circles looking for Mar, wasting precious minutes in search of the canine. Eventually deciding to go without her, she sprinted to the Hatching Sands, and was dissapointed to find that three had already Impressed. Ah, well. All she could do was remember the experience from here on out. Seeing the trapped kit, Xanthe looked around, wondering if anyone was going to help it. Deciding that the poor thing really needed help to get out of there, she hurried over and pulled at the edges of the opening in the shell in hopes that it would help the kit to escape.

The small kit inside blinked once in amazement that Xanthe would help it, trapped beneath the sand. The female flyer mewed a thanks, and dug harder, the kit inside doing the same with its free paw. Ronite flicked her finned tail nervously, treading her paws. Would the poor thing make it out?

Xanthe clicked her tongue impatiently and dug at the sand with one hand, holding the egg steady with the other so it wouldn't fall over and further bury the poor thing.

The kit gave one more mew, then stopped, resting. The flyer did the same, stepping back as if she knew something Xanthe didn't. Then, a crack. Right along te length. The scrape of tiny claws could be heard, and the kit inside the black egg pushed and scratched with the last of its strength at its prison. The cracks spread, and soon, the egg was so weak a paw pushed through, black as the egg's shell. the kit rested again, but didn't move to pull itself out, too tired.

As the egg cracked, Xanthe moved back. She frowned as the little kit slumped over, and reached to pull the creature out of its shell.

Help the kit, please. Ronite finally called, unable to keep silent any longer. She broke tradition, but the Uunik just nudge her gently in the side. The other Noka made no actions to suggest they disapproved of this, as they all worried for the kit. The female flyer backed off more, mewing anxiously under her breath.

Smiling crookedly at the worried mother's tone, Xanthe did pull the kit out and cradled it in her lap, giving it a cursory examination for any obvious injury. It seemed fine, she thought. She checked its face to be sure that none of the egg casing would inhibit its breathing, then placed it carefully back in the sand and scooted back so that it would be able to find the person it wanted to Impress to.

The kit opened it's glimmering blue eyes, looking at Xanthe as she moved away. He struggled to his paws, panting slightly, and unfurled the damp wings from his back. His fur was as dark as pitch, and just as slick with the goo from his egg coating it flat against his small frame.
Xanthe...where are you going? Your dear friend Sanio is tired... He decided who to Impress as soon as she'd helped, while others looked on in worry.
ooc// His normal speaking colour is lightgreen, and I must go. I'll post some more of the Hatching tomorrow when I get the chance.

Xanthe blinked at the little Noka. "Well," she said, eventually. "Okay, then." She picked Sanio up again and stood, looking around. "Uh... what do I do now?" she asked no one in particular.

((I'm here, sorry.))
Ami watched the impressions, fasinated. It was all the more amazing to be on the sands watching it, instead of in the stands. After all, she had only ever seen Laer's hatching.

"Over here, m'dear." Called the lower caverns woman while the man went to fill more bowls of milk and meat. "You must feed the little darling, as the geat white one o'rer there says." She nodded at Aura, and held out the borwls, smiling as the tired Sanio.

As the young male flyer was swept into Xanthe's arms and away, another egg began to shake, so close to another one that it was hard to tell which was shaking one. One was a very light blue-white, and was rather large. The other was a tan colour, with black, gray, and white swirling around it. It was a medium sized egg. The tan one cracked first, followed closely by the light blue one. The cracks spread until the blue, closely followed by the tan, hatched. From the blue one tumbled a crossbreed, the first to be hatched.
She stepped elegantly onto the sands, shaking the bits of sand grains that stuck to her. Like her egg, she was a pale blue colour, and so unique the song faltered for a moment. She possessed the tail of a water dweller, the claw-paws to match, but she had the streamlined, slim form of a flyer, and the long wings with it. Her eyes were a beautiful mix of blue and green.
The other was a burly digger. She snarled as soon as her paws hit the hot sand, glaring at the singing creatures with bright emerald green eyes. She flicked her short tail, sending dust clinging to her fur, but like the other digger, she didn't seem to care. Her fur was a deep, chocolate brown, with surprising splashes of tan brown, and spots of gray and black.

Emilia sighed softly, leaning back against her dragon. I thought that the male water dweller was actually going to choose me. Oh, I hope I'll Impress a Noka. she watched, her attention mostly grasped by the cross-bread and the female water dweller.

((Cross-bread, Kaity? XD))
Xanthe smiled gratefully at the woman and followed her instructions.
Thistlen watched the new hatchlings with some interest, half-smiling at them. They were sort of cute, in a weird sort of way. Not that Thistlen cared much for "cute" in any case. They were... interesting...

Thje pearly white, female flyer turned her eyes on the candidates at last, clean and rather brilliant in the light of both un and glow. Her crystaline eyes peered at each human in turn, striding before them rather vainly, tail swishing high above the sands, and her ears and wings perked up.
I choose you, dear Ami. I am Equinii. The flyer stopped before the girl, mewing in a long, melodical tone. She was a beautiful flyer. Ronite added her heart further into the song, her feelings evident as she gazed at the hatchlings Impressing.
