1. No power playing, godmoding, or anything of the sort. You roleplay your character, and yours alone, unless another member allows you to control theirs. Say, if your leaving on a trip or something, you can give a friend permission to control your characters until you return.
2. Do not beg for a specified colour for your candidates. It is both degrading, and humiliating. I understand that Queens are preferable for females, but if you’re overconfident that you deserve one, or think you might get one since you know an admin, you’re sorely mistaken. We decide if you deserve it or not. If we know you from another Weyr or site, and understand your style better there, that will sometimes come into the decision process if you’re not as active here at Abuton. If you attempt to get a queen by only saying you wish for a lower ranking dragon, then it’s most likely you’ll get a ower4 ranking dragon. We can’t read minds. If you display good writing abilities, such as literacy, good spelling, and long posts, then you’re chances at Impressing a queen can increase. Recruiting and advertising can also help to increase your chances.
3. Before you role play, you MUST POST YOUR CHARACTER’S PROFILE under the Pending Characters and wait for the approval of an Admin. Once you’re notified by post, then you are free to role play wherever you wish, as long as the location makes sense. For example, it’s rare that a candidate would be in a rider’s weyr.
4. Plots and activities are going to be a frequent occurrence at Abuton Weyr. It’s best if you have your characters(s) participate, since it could mean higher rank Impressions, and a new position. This may turn out to be a slow paced Weyr, but we all love participation.
5. If you don’t role play your candidate before a hatching, it’s less likely that they’ll Impress, though if you’re away or actively role played beforehand, your chance at Impressing will be more likely. If there is a lack of candidates, however, even if you didn’t role play, there’s a chance that your candidate might Impress.
6. You’re expected to respect your fellow members, admins, and role players. If you have an argument, you are expected to move it to the OOC character board or PM and sort it out. You’re expected to behave maturely, and not resort to threats or bolded posts. We admins are here to help, but it is our wish that you resolve your differences on your own, and not come complaining to us. Don’t be afraid to talk to us about anything. We’re here to help. However, if you yourself are misbehaving and giving us a hard time, trying to weasel your way out of trouble, and trying to get your way are not going to help. You get three warnings, and then you’re suspended for a week. If you continue with your misconduct, we have the right to ban you from Abuton Weyr.
7. Relationships, that is to say, romance, are allowed, but be appropriate. If it’s getting near or above PG-13 level, please make a note of it in the title, by a warning symbol, or another means. There’s no such thing as ‘love at first sight’, either. This means your characters have to get to know one another first, before anything can happen.
8. If you have any suggestions, like plots, flights, dances, dragon colours, new boards, or anything like that, feel free to post on the Ideas and Suggestions board, for any views or opinions by fellow members, or contact us directly. For flights and dances, the later is strongly recommended and advised. If you go through with your idea though, without permission, we will give you a warning. Three warnings and you’re suspended for a week. If you continue to act without permission, you will be permanently banned, NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS!
9. When joining, please note that if you create nothing but female characters, there will be fewer males, and so it is likely that you’ll end up pairing up with another female rider with an opposite gendered dragon for flights and such. So, when creating multiple characters, keep the female-male ratio as equal as possible. There is a limit as to how many dragonriders you can bring in, to follow the Weyr’s history. No bronzes can be transferred, as there is only elderly Torth and his rider T’tawn. Browns and under are expectable, but only cannon colours.
10. When role playing, do not post out of character unless combined with an in character post. Try PM or the OOC board for any chats.
11. You can double your characters at different boards, using ‘time warps’. Setting the specific role play before or after one being role played somewhere else. Doubling is allowed for special events, like hatchings and feasts, if a role play hadn’t concluded by the time the event started.
Try not to make one-liners. I’m afraid to say writers block does occur, and we understand that. Try not to make a habit out of one-liners, try to be detailed. Everyone likes a person who uses details. Remember to use the characters forms for bringing in new characters.
NOTE: On the character form, there is a space that says “rule remark”. It is there to show that you’ve read these rules. Put “Nira and Marvanth”. Thank you. <:3
